Pierre Brossolette was a politician and journalist who denounced "the threat of Hitler" as early as 1934. He fought for the French army at the start of the war, then joined the Resistance movement as part of the "Musée de l'Homme" group. He subsequently led a number of missions for General de Gaulle's Free France, and became one of the leading spokespeople for the Resistance on the BBC.
Arrested and tortured in 1944, he threw himself out of the window, falling to his death, to avoid disclosing information to his torturers.
